An Introduction to Hypnotherapy

What you can expect
on our journey together

  • Hypnotherapy Sessions

Hypnosis with Solution Focused Brief Therapy

Hypnotherapy sessions combine hypnosis with Solution Focused Brief Therapy as well as recent research in neuroscience and scientific findings and techniques from Neuro Linguistic Programming [NLP], Cognitive Behaviour Therapy [CBT], Solution Focused Brief Therapy [SFBT] and Mindfulness.

  • The Sessions

    Re-framing problematic events

In our sessions together we focus on the solution as opposed to the problem by re-framing problematic events, so you develop the ability to let go of critical, defeating thoughts and use your inner resources so that you can successfully shift your focus from the problem to the solution.

Hypnosis is induced by the sound of my voice focusing your mind on something specific such as visualisations and relaxation exercises. By relaxing your mind, it becomes more focussed, receptive, and creative to allow for therapeutic change to take place at a subconscious level, while still retaining full control at all times. It's similar to a dream. It's like when you drive a car and suddenly think "I'm here already" or when reading a good book and you get engrossed.

  • The First Session

Tailor each session to your exact needs

Your first session will allow me to tailor each session to your exact needs and provide you with a personal guided relaxation CD or MP3 recording for you to listen to each evening. In Solution Focused Hypnotherapy we believe that everyone can benefit from taking time to notice what’s been good in their day, so sessions start on a positive note, training your brain to look for and celebrate the small wins.

  • After Sessions

    Solution Focused Hypnotherapy

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy requires a commitment to the treatment and a desire to change, so in addition to your sessions with me, listening to your relaxation track will be an integral part of your therapy. This continues to focus the mind and helps provides solutions between our sessions together.

The Solutions: Explained

Solution Focused Brief Therapy

For those wanting purely a ‘talking therapy’ sessions can be held without hypnotherapy. Using an approach called Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) we work together in a collaborative manner to achieve the changes you want.

This approach comes from a different starting point than many other therapies as it is a forward- thinking approach that focuses on the present and the future and the goals you want to achieve. Together we create a clear picture of how you want your life to be and explore the times when the problem is absence, and we build upon these times by, making it much easier for you to get there.< br>
My focus in each session is to help you empower yourself, so you can move forward in your life. So, whether it is stress and anxiety, smoking, depression, or confidence that you are looking for help with then Solution Focused Brief Therapy could be your first step towards a better you.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a highly effective evidence-based, solution-focused therapy that can help you overcome emotional problems, like depression and anxiety. This approach allows us to examine the thoughts, images or memories you have and the behaviours and strategies you engage in to cope with how you feel.

CBT helps you to become aware of what is holding you back and arms you with the knowledge and tools to think and behave in new, more supportive ways. The goal of CBT is to help you identify which behaviours and thoughts may be impacting your emotions and getting in the way of you reaching your goals, and to help you develop new ways of coping.

Working together either with or without hypnosis, I treat you as a unique individual, encouraging you to take control of your problems, while offering support and techniques through a mix of challenging, and informative work which will set you up to leave therapy able to apply these in your daily life.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness is a centuries' old practice which involves learning to pay attention to the present moment.

Often, we are rushing around, wrapped up in our thoughts, unaware of what's really happening so, mindfulness can be beneficial for people with stress, anxiety or low mood as it helps to create a sense of calm. It can help to increase acceptance of life events and improve self-awareness and our relationships with others.

Leaning mindful techniques can easily be integrated into the work that we do together. We can explore ways in which you can practice mindfulness into your everyday life so that you have life last tools to help bring relief, understanding, clarity and improved sense of wellbeing.

And it is a secular practice, so it's suitable for anyone - no robes or incense are required! There are many ways to bring Mindfulness to your everyday life and it is easy to fit into a busy schedule. If you’d like to incorporate mindfulness techniques into your sessions, then let me know.
